Goat yoga is a type of yoga practice where you’re surrounded by adorable, friendly goats. They will walk around you or climb on top of your back while you do poses.

But don’t be alarmed, they are gentle creatures and for the humans it is a calming activity, and it has some surprising health benefits as well. Playful and surprisingly intelligent, the goats can be compared to curious puppies who want to just say hello.

Goats can help lower your stress levels and even improve your immune system! Goat yoga is for any yoga level, from beginners to the well-experienced.

Why People Like Goat Yoga

A lot of people like goat yoga because it’s a fun way to get into a relaxing and stress-free state. It also helps you meet new people and make friends with a wide range of people from all walks of life, which is great if you’re struggling with depression or anxiety.

The trend all started on a farm right here in Oregon, where owner Lainey Morse found comfort in spending time with her goats after a difficult period following her divorce and an autoimmune disease diagnosis. She began holding “goat happy hours” for her friends, and one of them suggested incorporating yoga into the mix.

After a successful goat yoga class, Morse decided to start her own business. She named it Original Goat Yoga, and now it’s a nationwide service that has become a source of joy for tens of thousands of people across the country.
