Celebrate the Holidays in Downtown Coos Bay

That time of year is upon us and here at Bay Point Landing Luxury RV Resort, we’re looking forward to celebrating the holidays. We hope you’ll choose to spend time with us as well so that we can all have a wonderful time. There’s plenty of fun to be had in the Coos Bay area and you can kick off the holidays in downtown Coos Bay.

Christmas Trees and More

Another great time to visit downtown for the season is to visit on the 27th of November and listen to Christmas music from K-DOCK and then sing carols with the Bay Area Teen Idols. You can also enjoy some cider and cookies. Santa will arrive and help us light the Christmas tree.

Afterwards, Santa will go with the kids to the Egyptian to watch the movie, Elf. Don’t miss out on the sock snowball fight! The next day you can go back downtown for Small Business Saturday and Shop Small. You can find great deals with area merchants and enjoy the new Noggin/Cider Walk. Any gifts you pick up can be taken to Z-Club for some festive wrapping.

The Coos Bay Boardwalk and the Coos History Museum

Rain or shine, no matter the weather, you’ll always be able to find something interesting to do in Coos Bay. While you’re staying at the Bay Point Landing Luxury RV Resort, you’ll be able to explore some great spots including the Coos Bay Boardwalk and the Coos History Museum.

The Coos Bay Boardwalk

If the weather is great outside, you’ll be able to spend part of the day down on the Boardwalk. The Coos Bay Boardwalk is a great place for a stroll and there are plenty of great places to have a bite. The boardwalk is a stretch of wood plank pier that offers up a fish market, informative displays, and some amazing views of Coos Bay.

Some of the nearby exhibits present the history of Coos Bay. Much of the focus is on the lumber industry that helped in the development of the town. You can also find the Koos #2, a tugboat used on the bay in the past.

Rain or shine, you can always visit the Coos History Museum. Here you’ll find an assortment of exhibits that offer up some of the great history of our region. The first-floor main gallery features exhibit on mining, logging, and shipbuilding in addition to natural history of the region.

You can now visit the 2nd floor to see a new exhibit, Vet Ink: Tattoos Inspired by Military Service. This showcases 9 veterans and 3 active duty personnel who have ties to our county. While you’re there, you can pop into the museum store and pick up something to remember your trip by.

The RV Lifestyle and Business

We love meeting all sorts of different people in the RV lifestyle. That’s the great thing about the Bay Point Landing Luxury RV Resort, you get to meet new people all the time as well as see some of the great people that have become familiar faces.

However, we’re also in a business so we need to keep track of how our own industry is doing. The good news is that it is doing quite well. What we’re seeing here on the ground is also what we’re seeing in the publications.

RV Lifestyle for the Millennials

One group that has suffered the slings and arrows of press and public disdain for the last decade and more is the generation known as Millennials. This group has been under fire for destroying restaurants, for killing off the movie industry, ending sitcoms, and slaying the Church.

That’s a lot of damage considering most of the time they’re being accused of doing all this, they’ve been twenty and under. Well, the good news is that now that Millennials are all over the age of 18, they’re falling into familiar spending patterns. One of those patterns is the amount of spending in the consumer discretionary category. Why is that interesting to us? Well, RVs fall into that category.

Moving on Up

[row]

[column columns=7]

The above category has seen an increase of 17% overall and RVs in particular have seen an increase of 17.2%. Winnebago, specifically, has had an 18% increase in sales. This is great news as the industry was reeling in the late 2000s as we hit a 30-year nadir.

Millennials finally have time and money enough to get out and enjoy what previous generations were already enjoying. So, don’t be surprised if many of the RV set seem to look a lot younger than stereotypes would indicate.
